This wily old British Boxing punter/pundit is one of the absolute BEST in the biz. (And one of Bizz's bests and favorites as well!) This guy is one of the most asute handicappers in the world (you know the British -- they'll bet on anything!) and he has been around about as long as Everlast, Kenny Weldon, and the soil of the Earth. This man tells-it-like-it-is. And his site is 'no-frills', and very 'streamlined', simple, and user-friendly.

Ladies and Gentlemen...

I give you -- "The Fightwriter".

* note - AmatoBoxing's Jerry Fitch used to work with this fellow back in the print-and-pulp days, and Houston also has been known to consult none other than "The Wizard" (Johnny Bos) from time-to-time.

( Has he consulted 'The Bizzard' yet? Nope...not yet folks...;-(

Some of my happiest times were the years I wrote for Boxing News when Graham Houston was at the helm. Only had the change to meet him once, while he lived in Toronto and it was a good time. He is a class act, one of the good guys and very talented too.

Yeah guys, while there are obviously many, many plusses with the internet-age and such, I to kind of miss those 'old days'. (Among other things, you can't really take the computer into the 'shitter' with you, unless you have perhaps Wi-Fi and a laptop, but still that would be quite awkward...) Anyways, those mags are getting harder and harder to find. I've always gotten The Ring, and with modern technology (or for some other reason?) the 'lag time' has gotten much better in recent years (they are only about a month 'behind date') but one other mag I used to get was the Euro-based Boxing Monthly. That was a terrific mag, and it still is, but I can't find it anywhere now. (Perhaps I will subscribe to it?) I've been getting The Ring since I was a little kid in the 70's, but I actually didn't really know who Houston was until a bit later on (about 1990 or so) when I started buying that Boxing Monthly. He wrote for them, and still does actually.

P.S - Supposedly Houston lived in Vancouver, B.C for a few years. There was (evidently?) a bit of a 'boom' in Boxing in that area, but to be honest, Vancouver is just a few hours north of me (Seattle) and...I don't really ever recall that? Perhaps it was a bit before my time, and sort of a by-product/accompaniment of the Boone Kirkman 60's/70's 'craze'???

See folks...not only is he a legend -- but he talks to legends.

As far as the other part, I hear that former longtime referee......shoot, what was his name???......damn...well, whoever it was, he's on his last days with cancer unfortunately...(I'll look it up)

As far as Kaplan goes, never knew the guy, but boy...that's a big name and an old historian to be certain.

BTW - Did you talk to our buddy Houston about their lad David Haye Snoop? Oh...we need to send Houston my collection of British hvy jokes Snoop...(!!!)

Houston is about one of the best 'punters' since RAY GUY folks. It kind of sucks that he doesn't live in Vancouver B.C, Canada any longer, as that is just a few hours north of me and I would visit him. ( Or well...sit on his doorstep and perhaps 'stalk him', ya' know...)

Great site he has: Unique, simple, and "STREAMLINED".
