A great review of a great book. Like Ted Williams, I, too, think that it's the best baseball book of all time. When I was teaching, I used it as a required reading for my directed studies in the History of Baseball and the History of Sports, and I encouraged my Western World survey students who were sports fans to read it for their book review assignment. And I can honestly say that every student who read it loved it and learned from it--including a woman basketball player who wasn't fond of baseball. So, you don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy this book.
If you haven't read _The Glory of Their Times_, you may wish to get the new enlarged edition, which has all the stories from the classic first edition plus the stories of four players not found in the original edition.
