You know,it's funny, but that's one of the few times I can remember being impressed with a guys Chin by his getting dropped. Going into that fight we weren't sure on Chris Byrd's Chin and when that punch connected and he got up from it,you had a pretty good idea that Chris Byrd was never going to be counted out. Stopped Yes,but not counted out. It's still kind of funny to look back at the period afterword and wonder what it was he complaining to the Ref about in his impaired state of mind?

SPOT-ON Dave! Byrd may have been lacking in size and power -- but he certainly wasn't lacking in chin our heart!

BTW - Funny you should mention the brief complaining. AFTER that fight, when he was doing the post-fight interview and watching the clip for the first time, he made the following remarks...

..."WHOOSH!"

..."Play that one more time???"

..."Okay......*nodding*... I can see what he was talking about now..."

(LOL!)

BTW - Man the 25 yr.old 20-0 Ike had SERIOUS potential...I was certain I had just seen the next hvy champ of the world going home, or at the very least a real threat and true top-contender.

Also...

Some compare Peter to him. Peter isn't too shabby -- but Ike had more speed and skill.

To steal another John Madden saying again...

"Yeah hey; he may have gotten up -- but I think he got up lookin' out of his EARHOLE."

(lol)

Yeah, just think how much more exciting things would've been with him around and we'd have seen Lennox-Ike,Holy-Ike,Tyson-Ike (even Ike-Tua 2). Sam Peter is a VERY weak facsimile, you think Ike would be getting dropped three times by McCline? I doubt it.

Ohh...*holds head and starts sobbing* Ike "had it all -- but sanity", Murphy...

And yeah -- Peter is "no joke" -- but he ain't no Ike either. Ike was like a machine when in prime-form and in his mid-20's, Peter...like a clubbing Bowling-ball.
